Originally from the Southeastern part of the United States from a town with just 580 people, I traveled to South Korea to experience one year abroad before returning to The United States to work in a public school. After a year in Korea, I was offered a job at an international school and signed a two-year contract. And just like that, one year turned into three! It did not take much time for me to fall in love with living abroad while pursuing my career in teaching. After being introduced to the world of international school teaching, I attended a Search Associates job fair and was offered a job at one of my dream schools in Vientiane, Laos, where I became passionate about inquiry-based teaching and learning. Most recently, I have been teaching at a PYP school in Shanghai for 4 years. I have loved my time here but have decided to move on from China. Where to next?
When I'm not teaching, I love volunteering. In Laos, I spent time working as a florist at Malibarn Flowershop, a local social justice enterprise. I was focused on completing my Masters while in China and am now looking for my next project to get involved in! My hobbies include photography, calligraphy, writing letters, travel, crafty projects, and sauntering around the neighborhood.
