Originally from the Southeastern part of the United States from a town with just 580 people, I traveled to South Korea to experience one year abroad before returning to The United States to work in a public school. After a year in Korea, I was offered a job at an international school and signed a two-year contract. It did not take much time for me to fall in love with living abroad while pursuing my new career in teaching. After being introduced to the world of international school teaching, I attended a Search Associates job fair and was offered a job at one of my dream schools in Vientiane, Laos, where I became passionate about the inquiry-based teaching and learning. I have been teaching at a PYP school in Shanghai for 3 years and have decided to move on after what will have been 4 years in China. Where to next?
Stay tuned for a video introduction. Until then, here are a few things I like to do when I'm not teaching.
When I'm not teaching, I love volunteering. In Laos, I spent time working as a florist at Malibarn Flowershop, a local social justice enterprise. I was focused on completing my Masters while in China and am now looking for my next project to get involved in! My hobbies include photography, calligraphy, writing letters, travel, crafty projects, and sauntering at sunset.
